Free parking in Reading on Saturdays

It wasn't intended as a personal criticism of Salty seadog who is a thoroughly nice bloke,

Never thought it was, was just intrigued, although I do disagree to a certain extent on parking, as I think it's expensive for the wrong reasons

in spite of thinking I'm called Tanya .

You could try Chester Street car park in Caversham. Admittedly it not free but it appears to be £2 effectively for all day as it is only open for 5 hours and the rest of the time it is free.

It would be about 5-10 mins by bike from the Station over the new footbridge in Christchurch Meadows.

Reading is notorious for it's badly signed (some say deliberately) bus lanes. It is very easy to get caught by a bus lane camera while driving around the town. If you do get caught then appeal. You should have a good chance of winning an appeal, as I did. The traffic control tribunal people seem to be used to Reading BC's scam.

it's a good reason to get the train in. Save money on parking and fines.

I can't remember exactly what I did but I must have gone past the 8pm. Apparently I would have been better off on the double yellow lines right next to the bay!

I got a ticket in a bay just like that in Reading, I read the signs about ten times before I though I was OK (it was in the evening). I misunderstood the signs - can't think why, they are so easy. I was visiting a friend in a road I used to live in.

That sign says you could only stay for 2 hours between 8am and 8pm.
