I ride a Raleigh Super Course from 1987. recently the free wheel totally broke and I could not pedal. It is a 6sp 14-32, which apparently are quite rare. I found one on ebay though and will have it installed soon. The new one clicks but the old one did not, it was totally silent. I was wondering if anybody knows why this might be and what the difference is between one that clicks and one that does not. I always liked my silent mode riding, but no longer I guess.
I like my old Raleigh because it was made before the racing scene began to influence all aspects of riding. Now all bikes are setup as racers it seems, whereas my bike may look like a racer but has nicer gearing for touring.
