Worrying news for anyone who threw the bib out:

I HAVEN'T REGISTERED - CAN I TURN UP ANYWAY?

Unfortunately, no. In order for the event to run smoothly and safely, we've had to put a limit on the number of people riding on the day. So if you don't have an official Hovis London Freewheel bib, you might not be able to ride on the course.

To be honest, I can't see that working. Keeping cars out is one thing, but it'd be so easy to just nip in with your bike!

sounds like a farce.

Will be at work, was annoyed, but now reckon it might be one to miss.....

Wll, as has been said it would be impossible to police:

"Sorry, you can't come through, you have no bib"

"What freakin "bib" you streak of pee, I'm going round my mate Emma's house to watch amputee porn, out of my way or I shall be forced to alert the media".

And anyway, there was nothing in the original blurb that said bib wearing is mandatory.

And I still haven't had my pack anyway.

Say 75% of registees turn up- there's space for another 10,000 riders.

This seems to be a bit of an organisational cock up but the day should be great- forecast is sun and 23 degrees.

So i was born in London, lived in London for 48 years, learnt to ride my bike in London, cycled to school in London, commuted on my bike in London for 17 years and i ride socially in London.

But i'm not allowed to ride in my home town, on my streets, on that day, without getting permission..

Thanks Ken!

The reasoning being...what?

I know there are insurance implications but what do they think will happen, the cyclists push forwards and central London becomes a teetering pyramid of cyclists and bikes, hundreds crushed to death...

Allow the whole day, allow three metres per rider, allow the length of the route times the road width, i can't see the danger.
