I've not killed a freezer before and don't want to rush and replace if it can be fixed.
The freezer compartment on my unknown model of Brandt fridge freezer has died. I might be able to find out the model number but still wouldn't know what's gone wrong to identify what was needed and then might struggle to fit it if I did.
I've lost my receipt and it's about eight years old but there's websites selling spares and they might be able to identify the model. Maybe.
Have you been able to fettle a freezer before?
If I do end up needing a new/secondhand freezer I wanted to keep the old one running for the fridge and not replace the whole thing. There's nothing running on the freezer and the light for it is off, should I try and check it's not drawing any power or trust my observations?
If not repairable or no secondhand are found, I'm a bit stuck for time to hunt one out in or near Oldham, how inefficient would an A or A+ rated one be compared to an AA+ rated one?
Lots of questions but any help would be very much appreciated.
