The outstanding live version of
Mystery Train played by the Jerry Garcia Band at Theatre 1839 on 29 July 1977 (see
here) is an incredible burn-up that starts off at a lazy pace for two or three minutes and then receives a delightful injection of tempo that gets Jerry cranking and cranking his extended virtuoso solo until the charging train sends him off into the stratosphere, shredding like a maniac, eventually coming back down to Earth after ten glorious minutes of improvised music of THE highest calibre.
Stunning stuff!
