Richard Thompson was credited with the lyrics for this, but Linda deserves credit for her performance, at least:

Harvey Andrews wrote a great song describing the changing feelings for his father, from unquestioning infantile devotion, through juvenile contempt, to mature appreciation. I couldn't isolate a performance from the man himself, but this is a decent (rather quiet) cover of For my Father.
