I read somewhere that the chance of being sprinkled with space dandruff was negligible, 1 in 3200. If that's true, an awful lot of people are going to need to get out their clothes brushes.

This is another reason why Tim will benefit. He carts around so much junk on a day-to-day basis that it would be hard to tell if anything had crashed into our Kaffenbackista...unless, of course, he was seated on his red dwarf... (and we'd hope then that the monstrous 'bus garage' mounted on the rear took a direct hit from the Starship Mensurprise, or whatever it is called.)

"Earth to Tim, are you receiving us?" (Perhaps an assassin has arrived on planet CycleChat and is wiping out yacf'ers one by one )

So am I misinterpreting this?
So Forest Hill is in the clear User10571? Best lay in a few beers as the Teef, Del & the nation descend on you ... or does that mean you can't see it coming?

I think you might be. The link only promises that you won't see it from Forest Hill - but it has a list of non-visible, and, by the look of it, some of those high altitude ones could be pretty close. Of course I'm typing this crap as if I were able to understand any of it, but, hey, in the absence of a denial from Tim I think we might have a Roswell situation on our hands

Radar stations around the world, including RAF Fylingdales in north Yorkshire, are tracking the object and expect it to re-enter the atmosphere between Thursday and Saturday, but there is little chance of predicting with any accuracy where the debris will fall

I think you probably know that the only reason I am still here is because I'm waiting for someone to fix my spaceship so that I can go home.

Possible good news. Perhaps Tim's been working on it in Europe's underground scientific chambers.
The question is, if as reported today neutrino's can now travel faster than light, does this not imply Einstein's theory of the space-time continuum is utter bunkum and therefore with a fast enough bike (likely without panniers or indeed mudguards), the laws of science would now permit you to travel back in time and avoid said satellite debris were it to have hit you ?

No - only when fired in the direction of Italy. If we had stuck with Del's original plan to ride to Naples there would be hope. Nope, not even drafting Teef is going to save us ....

I reckon that drafting Teef whilst riding west would do it.

The estimate is that 158kg of mass will be travelling at 240mph Linky
So how fast does Teef have to pedal to absorb the total impact?

on the contrary - the safest thing to do is to be in front of 'Teef (and Thom) heading east. If you want to go west then you need to draft Davywalnutwhips. The space junk will just bounce of his thighs.

On a positive note you should be able to make nearly 20 frames from the Titanium extracted from Teef's carcass. At £1698.99 a throw ( Linky ) it might be worth it to be nearby. Just don't flog them on eBay.

apropos of nothing at all........Obama's in town. Susie gets in to a lift. There's a man in the lift wearing a black jacket, bearing the legend 'Secret Service'. Hmmm..........
