5 days in and there's already 50 names and 3 cake offers on the list.

Can I go on the list please? I promise not to break my arm a few weeks before the ride this year

Hi Luke, I have tentative plans to ride up to HPC this time and possibly meeting DavyW en route, if you're up for London travel guide duties it would be very handy great to see you

No problem Al. It was good to see you again on Friday (beer goggles usually help

), if only briefly.

"possibly" being the key word in that sentence. Don't arrange your schedule too much around Davy's.

Hmm, Simon's email says that it's going to be cold, but looking at XCWeather, the lowest temperature I can find is 8°C for Dartford at around 4am, which I don't consider to be cold. I'll probably wear a long sleeved jersey and long tights, but I doubt I'll bother with more than my normal summer mitts.

It does look like a moderate northerly wind, which could be a bit of a drag, but we've cycled in far worse!

it will. apparently, be colder in London than in Southend. 5 deg with the wind making it feel like 1 deg. My concern is that we have a few newcomers, and they might be taken by surprise - and I do think that the 'tail' of the ride may be travelling at quite a sedate pace.

It's one of those difficult months for choosing correct layers. Daytime temps are still quite warm but a bit chilly at night.

I think I'll go for shorts and S/S jersey, but with a base layer and optional arm warmers. I may splash out on knee warmers for this ride as well.

Wind proof jacket is always in the back pocket just in case along with a buff or two.

mmmm...gloves??? Can you get finger warmers to use with mitts?

Silk glove liners can be used with mitts, I reckon if it's a bit parky in the early hours. That's what I'm bringing.
