Is that like a 'secret Santa'?
Both would make their 'presence' felt I suppose!;)

I suppose the problem is that the secret sherpa has no idea whose stuff they are carrying. No wonder it's carnage at the halfway stop...

I have always suspected the knee bandage is something of a Tardis. Probably holds a full repair kit and a workstand. Can't quite get the lock in there as well though.

I have just registered and am hoping that the list is not oversubscribed and that the weather will be above 2010 average.

This is a new activity for me so I am under-equipped/naive perhaps. Here are some issues on which I have an open mind. Comments please.

I do not have a rack and am thinking that a light rucksack might be bearable given the alleged pace.

I know where I can borrow a headlight and I guess Knogs on the bike and helmet will suffice on the back.

3/4s or possibly shorts.

With two food stops planned for 70 mile run perhaps I could use one bottle cage for my small bits and pieces carrier.

Plenty of us carry rucksacks. Mine isn't exactly light on account of having a D-lock in it (and a decent, i.e. heavy one at that), apart from assorted other kit (on last couple of rides not one but two pumps, plus spare batteries, inner tubes etc), and I manage just fine. Just got n+1 sorted today, will have a look at fixing on of the Carradice SQR blocks on at the weekend, so might well switch to using that for most of the kit, just leave the rucksack as hydration bladder.

Oh yes, n+1. Condor Squadra frame (aluminium front triangle, carbon rear, carbon fork, all made by Dedacciai), fitted with most of the bits from the Viner- Veloce gearing/brakes/shifters, Centaur cranks, Fulcrum Racing 5s. Only ridden it for a mile or so so far, but sweeeet ;) Italian patient will be getting some upgrades on its return...

None yet. I still have one of those oldfangled things that use film (remember those? ) but I'll probably take some at some point. It'll be making the trip north next week, anyway, so you'll see it then. This weekend, it'll be getting some serious use (not that the Dahons are bad for long runs, it's just nice having drops, less weight, going about 20% quicker for the same effort....;) ).

there have been allegations of pace, but they've never been proven!

Here for rides.

Thin layers. Of merino wool. And ditch the rack. I think a rucksack is overkill unless you want to lounge around in civvies when you get there. I haven't quite had the courage to emulate Dellzeqq's ultra-minimalism, but then I have always suspected he has a secret sherpa...

Spendid. That's exactly the route I've gone down.

Except I've now got levelonoir which didn't have a rack to start with and which is so stealthy, and light tourer-y, that if it ever gets a rack it deserves to have a Tubus Fly.

Where does Dell stash his yellow jacket when he takes it off...? I suspect it is edible and he consumes it piece by piece over the first half of the ride.

Just about everyone on these rides carries far less than I do! What's the secret? How do I cram everything I need for self-sufficiency (waterproof, tools, tubes, food, kitchen sink, etc...) into the one small seat pack??
