This is one of the few rides I have not done yet. Is there anything I need to worry about in terms of big "bumps"?
I don't think so - the ride suits your style.

The road doesn't settle - there are frequent changes of gradient - but there are no hills that bear comparison with Ditchling, or even Portnalls Road. It's a longer route, and we tend to ride more quickly, and it is more tiring. The key is to cut down on the weight you carry as much as you can, and to relax, changing down on the small rises rather than charging up them.

We're changing the route (there's a recce this Sunday morning) which will remove some of the dreadful Sittingbourne ring road - a piece of tarmac that now you'll never know. Thank your lucky stars.

At your own risk - The good people of Sittingbourne may object to the removal of their only escape route by a bunch of cyclists. "You put that tarmac down, it's not as if you even pay road tax...."

I found riding down that bit strangely enervating last time, if for no other reason that it reminded me that there were worse towns to grow up in than Crawley.

Just as long as it doesn't remove the exotic spherical bollards, which it turns out you can just see with Google Streetview on maximum zoom!

I'm afraid it does. I've been told that the path is covered in glass. And I'm fed up with that horrible right turn on to the ring road. And the trek past Asda.

We do get one of Kent's oldest buildings by way of a return.
