Dear FNRttCpeeps!

just a few last words

- thankyou once again to Andrew Br for his help in recce'ing the route.

- the weather looks pretty good. There should be patches of clear sky between Manchester and Blackburn. We'll have a headwind for the last twenty odd miles, but it's not going to be massive, and we'll have to get ourselves organised in a bit of a chain gang. We may see 0.2mm of rain on the way in to Blackpool.

- my telephone number is 07776 210 731 - call if you're going to be late to the start, of if you can't find your way

- a few of us will be meeting up at Piccadilly Station - I arrive at 23.11 We'll then go down to the start - the Albert Memorial on the west side of the Town Hall, near the eastern end of Brazenose Street.

- the majority of the riders will set off for Bury at 23.35. They will stop at Tesco Prestwich if need be.

- a couple of people will be arriving at Piccadilly at 23.45 - they'll go straight to the Albert Memorial, I'll lead them up the A56 at lightning speed and catch the main bunch before Bury

- the Carmen Rose in Ribchester is expecting us at 4 am. They're a little posher than our normal halfway stop. Sandwich, trimmings and tea or coffee will set you back a fiver. I would like to leave Ribchester no later than 4.45

- Quilligans Cafe in Blackpool is opening early for us. I'm hoping to be there at 7.30, which will give those of us catching the 8.45 train a little time to savour the delights of Blackpool's Esplanade.

As ever, there are rules.

- the FNRttC loves Bungalows. When passing a Bungalow, one must cry out 'Bungalow'.

- first person to spot the Blackpool Tower wins a prize. Andrew Br will decide the nature of the prize.

- take it very easy on the downhills between Bury and Blackburn. Some of them are precipitous. Give the person in front of you some room. The last descent in to Blackburn is deceiving, and should be taken with care - I've lost the back end of the bike both times I've been down that hill.

- make sure your lights have fresh batteries.

- and freshen up on the Signals - especially Easy! Stopping! and Hole!

- and don't forget to say hello to Emily, the youngest FNRttCer ever!!!!!

See you at the Albert Memorial

So sad i am going to miss this, I was so hopefuly I would be okay for it but had to be sensible and admit I am still recoverying from tonsil op on monday. Have a great ride.

Very last cake call. Apart from Adrian (who is getting a cake whether he wants one or not) does anyone want a cake for last minute carb-loading in the few minutes before the off? If so, I'll go and bake some. If not, and I know this is a little bit shocking, I'm bringing none. Not even a sneaky flapjack!

[/quote]leave the cake. Get some sleep, or at least put your feet up. There's an all night Tesco and an all night Asda if anybody gets the munchies on the way, but, thus far, nobody has starved to death on any of our rides.......

Crackle - I got your e-mail - thanks

Ok tah.

Unfortunately I too will miss this. With impeccable timing, I was struck down by the lurgy last weekend. Today is actually the first day I feel normal but I better not risk it. Real shame, as most of my recent cycling had been geared to coming on this and I was looking forward to meeting people.

It is a lovely day oop North. First in a few with no wind and a mild feel even though the sun isn't shining. So I'm hopeful you'll have a fine night.

I'm getting in to Piccadilly at 10:45pm. I'm sure I could find it if I knew where it was! For the benefit of those of us who have been sitting at the back chatting and not paying attention, where are we meeting?

And my train gets in at 10:35pm. Alledgedly.

You are waiting at Piccadilly for the 23:11 to pull in.

Ah. That sounds like a plan. We'll be able to loiter with intent have a civilised coffee and then tag along with someone who knows where they're going!
