Having said that, I don't have any cheap tickets for this outing either, so I wonder what the going rate is...................

bff's? I would 'plump' for "Big Figh Fancier's" - complete with greengrocer's apostrophe! I think I would be more comfortable seeing your upper ankles encased in lycra, Davy - it would be like a pair of inflatable dinghies making their way to water...

From Croydon. I don't want to over-reach myself.

And will you be partaking of the Saturday Morning Ride back to Home???

c£21 instead of c£31 at Sainsburys today. I succumbed as I'm partial to a bit of Dal... it's the whinnie that gives me a horse voice. Toss up to with what should I fill the pocket hydrator for the Whitstable trip; this, or XO? (Bearing in mind that Andrij has a prety impressive Coonemara in his vocab. at the moment...) Of course, nothing will be taken on the 'Genteel Ride' "Oh no." (© John Major)

Why is cycling so difficult?

There's something particularly pleasing about a spot of XO in the small hours, I think.

realistically what time could one expect to get into Brighton - i need to be in Worthing for 8.00am , did my first Brighton run a couple of weeks ago and we did spend a long time in Horley. I dont have much to go on ........

I know this is considered genteel but that term really conjures up some strange images for me: strange when linking genteel to fluorescent clothes at 4 in the morning

good luck to 'em. Although I've half a mind to put some signs up saying

NIGHT RIDES - GET THIRTEEN FOR A QUID!

They're being a bit reticent about their route, but I'd put decent money on Lonesome Lane and Slugwash Lane!

I think you had it right first time....
£89? That's for 'pre-event support', insurance, 'rider safety pack' (wow, a route card and some hi-vis ankle bands), 'fully signed and controlled route' (controlled? I think not), 'hot meal en-route' (bacon sarnie?), 'embedded support riders, bike mechanics, medics, vehicle support' (like TECs only they have a van), 'hot breakfast on arrival' (should be buffet at the Grand, but won't be, at this price!), 'baggage transfer service' (?!!!).
What a piss-take. I've done a few of the Wiggle series sportives, and I got as much if not more for £25 or less....let alone a FNRttC of course!
