This was the route of my very first FNRttC. I'm looking forward to a reprise.....1878329 said:The OP states southerly route with a J31 Services stop. I feel almost nostalgic.

Don't worry Olaf, you'll get up the steepest hill on the Southend ride after a week 'tuning up' elsewhere!I'm not sure how close to a bike I want to get just one week after LonJoG, but anyway, please count me in. Depending on the weather and other things, my better half Katharina will join us as well.
Ah, in that case, ignore the route I posted earlier, and look at this one, whic is more representative, being the ride from September 2010, when we did use the Dartford Crossing services.
This one also uses the sea front path after Leigh-on-Sea station, which tends to only happen if we're early enough. Strictly speaking it's No Cycling, but if we're there early, there are no pedestrians to disturb, and it's safe enough. It does avoid one last short steep hill, which if people are flagging a bit, is the last thing they want!
call that nostalgia!!! You want nostalgia, go to the User. Nobody who heard the bit about the graveyard has quite managed to wipe the slate cleanI like it! My grandparents lived in Aveley, Dad worked in Purfleet, and I remember accompanying my uncle in his lorry to Tilbury docks.

Simon - I'll send you an email later.

oh. Sorry. It's a metaphor. But an apt one.Is this a metaphor, or did a slate headstone actually have to be wiped clean?
