My feet "should" be dry (see separate thread on overshoes) as I'll have sealskins on, it's the outside of my socks that could cause an issue with the floor.

My sealskinz lasted for about 2.5 hours on the Morecambe ride. And that was without gravity pouring leg-run-off into the top of them. They generally do better if worn with sandals rather than sponges MTB shoes, though.

I'm out.

The last straw came on the ride home this evening. If I go back out today blood will be shed - either mine or the next person who puts my life in danger.

If you need me I'll be hiding in a corner curled up in a fœtal position murmuring incoherently. If you see that my glass is empty please pour me some more whisky.

Without patent evidence of the legg bandage - let's be brutally honest about this - it could be anybody on that Colnago tonight.

I have just returned from SE16 to SE23, in civvies, en velo, with md.... mdgr...... mdgrdz..... F**kitt! I cannot bring myself to say the word.
I am ver' ver' wet and through my shame am secretly (not secret any more, oh no) pleased to have had the unmitigated audacity to have wussed out and bottled this ride when I saw the forecast earlier in the week.

To those of you set on sailing swimming snorkelling cycling to Vista Belle tonight, I say Bon Voyage, I wish you god's speed (in knots).
May the tide and the surf carry you aloft of the flotsam and jetsam, and I wish for all of you to have a safe arrival and berthing in port Vista Belle tomorrow, where the forecast portends of drier times perhaps, even, some sunshine.

It'd be really bad form to get the first one out of Victoria and meet you all for breakfast.
Wouldn't it?

I just got piss wet through just walking from Crystal Palace parade to home - about 10 minutes, I am currently questioning my sanity.

Yes it would unless of course you contrived it so it was chucking it down on your arrival in Whitstable and you were soaked by the time you got to the Waterfront. In which case you may as well have joined the rest of us on our swim!

Good luck all, massive traffic in Waterloo due to an accident Elephant is closed.

should be tidy by midnight though.

Hope the weather clears.

(so glad Mrs Jeez wouldn't give me a hall pass for this one!)

I am planning on greasing myself up like a cross channel swimmer and doing the ride naked. I shall carry clothes to put on at the end, if requested.
I'd offer you a wetsuit but since you've brought up channel crossings, that would unauthenticate the experience.

Have fun everyone - I'm sure when the morning dawns over Graveney Marshes, the air will be clear and bracing for some lung bursting racing to the Sticky-Toffee pudding prize in the warmth of the Waterfront, which will be dry but not dry...

Am I the only one who finds the Waterfront freezing cold, because they keep the ******* door open all the time? Just to give us all something other than the rain to moan about ...
As I recall the door actually has a fairly robust spring-closer (yes, I know I need to get out more) - I think it may be the volume of passing cyclists across the threshold which leads to your subsequent displeasure.
EDIT: X-posting with Adrian like there's no tomorrow. Not in the dry, anyway.
