First you lose your wallet, then you are in danger of getting it out of your pocket...some people will go out of their way to be Scottish!
Speedy recovery MacB. We'll organise a ride to see you and leave cyclist's detritus all over your lawn while you dispense cocktails through the front room window.

Folks, have sent PM to Simon and Luke as I'm now extremely dubious for this ride. Fridays tumble led to A&E visit this morning and have cracked bone in left wrist. No cast, just support bandage but doctor wasn't too keen on idea of riding that soon. But, doctors, what do they know eh?

Ouch! That's bad news. It's probably best to take the doctor's advice: when I broke my hand a couple of years ago I, ahem, continued to do some cycling which probably didn't help... If they were happy to send you home without a cast it's probably not terribly bad. I guess you'll have an appointment for the fracture clinic - you should see a specialist there who'll be able to tell you what's what and give better advice than the A&E doctor.

If it's a simple fracture it ought to take about four weeks to knit (and eight weeks to reach full strength) so I suspect you'll be off the bike for a few weeks, unfortunately. But wrists are complicated things and if it isn't straight forward then it'll take longer, sadly.

GWS!

yep, fracture clinic tomorrow, i did get a quick peek at the X-ray and it is a tiny crack, nothing out of line etc, or at least to my laymans view. It really isn't that bad, this is the 4th break I've had on that wrist and I've also broken the left elbow twice and had surgery on it as well. I didn't experience any of that nauseating sort of pain I've had with the more serious breaks. To be honest if it hadn't gotten worse, following yesterdays exertions, this may have never received a hospital visit. I've had sprains that have been more painful.

I'm sort of thinking back in saddle, gently, in about 10 days and then build it up based on feedback from wrist/arm. I will listen to medical advice but I also know how generic that can be. The surgeon that did my elbow actually exhorted me to try far more than the physio was recommending.

Thanks for the good wishes folks, I'll stop clogging up the thread now otherwise RichP will be on my case as usual:evil:

McB - sad news indeed, although entirely understandable.

And, yes there's room on the ride. Rail tickets are another thing (I've lost mine, which is annoying) but, one way or another you will be able to get there.

note to self - put Brian C on the list..........

I hope you're bringing enough for everyone.

Mmmmm... pie. By the way, Landers - how come you're so special that you are the only one listed by your forum name? Are you hugely famous, and have you prevailed upon Dellzeqq to protect your identity?
