If you spread the good Karma amongst your fellow road users you will get good karma back, if you smile and wish the idiots a cheery good morning you'll confuse them and their brain cell might self destruct.
I will give a thank you wave to the considerate motorist and if I've held someone up I'll wave them through when I think its safe.

I smile and acknowledge considerate motorists.

One word of warning though - make it really clear that you are smiling and happy with them because when lip-reading through a windscreen, 'Thank you' looks remarkably like 'F*ck you'!

Me too. I wave and do a thumbs up to appreciate being given room. I once did this through Newtown and Bridgemont on the A6 with a van behind me. As the van eventually came past, the beaming driver have me huge kudos for being courteous to everyone I passed and for letting him know exactly what I was going to do at each hazard.

I also make eye contact at lights and indicate to the lead driver, or the one closest to me, which way I am going. That paid dividends the other day when the driver i signalled to realised he had not indicated, put his flasher on to turn left, so I gave him a barrel of room to make the turn that I might not have given him otherwise (doubtless to my probable cost).
