I thought they were chickeny when I had them - but a much more delicate flavour than that.
Likewise, albeit from a distant memory.
We'd all ordered random things from a menu of a rather fine, but very modestly priced, restaurant in France.
The frogs' legs were actually ordered by someone else, but I took pity on him as he recoiled in horror saying "I can't eat that". When I say "took pity" it's more that I didn't want our party to lose face in front of Johny Foreigner by failing to even try the local delicacies. The one, loosely speaking, French speaker in our party then said, "ah yes, I remember what grenouille are now".
Whilst very nice, and certainly chicken like, they were a bit of a faff to eat for not very much meat. 30 plus years later it's overall still by some way the best meal I've every eaten. We were staying at the municipal campsite, itself an experience, which was more or less a croquet lawn covered in statues in the grounds of a mansion. I do remember groaning in pain most of evening "I've eaten too much ! I"ve eaten too much". It was a small town called Joinville on the Marne.
