Front brakes rubbing?

My front brakes (old style block things, not disc) seem to rub very slightly on the front wheel, but only when I am steering left or right. I can see how this would happen, turning right is pushing the top of the wheel to the left a bit, but does this mean the wheel ought to be tightenend up, or is it to be expected?

Thanks for any help.

DBL.

Check the wheel bearings for excess play. They may need adjusting. Is the wheel running true and are all the spokes tight? Is the wheel axle tight in the forks, i.e. do your QR skewers need tightening? Is the brake caliper mounted centrally when the brakes are released?

Another cause is that the cable is pulling the brake to one side as the bars turn. If it's only rubbing a little it should be quite easy to centre up the brakes using the tiny adjustment screws on the sides of the calipers.

This is assuming your wheel is ok.
