front derailleur tweeking...

On today's ride I noticed that the chain is starting to rub against the front derailleur (rectangular hole thing) on the side closest to the centreline of the bike.

The largest chainring engages fine, but the chain rubs from time to time.
Where are the adjustment screws for this (I have a Spesh Sirrus)? Can the gear cables be tightened via the gear adjustment knobs on the handlebars? which way to turn?

Limit screws on the Mech - usually on the top edge of the 'bit that doesn't move.

There's deffo 2 screws on the mech. Triple. Largest chainring engaged gives the chainrub.

Whilst on the subject of gear adjustment, smallest chainring on lowish gear (albeit rarely used) gives a really really worrying clackety-clackety-clack...at which point I move up a few gears!

could it have had a knock eg from your heal to knock it out of alignment. s/b parallel to the chain. That means loosening the mech from the seat post.

regarding twiddling of knobs: the adjuster on the handlebars, wind it in(clockwise) that makes the cable looser and will mech will move closer to the frame.

If it shifts between rings OK, don't fiddle with hi/lo screws (yet)

I forgot to mention but it's probably a little late now. If it's the same as mine, the adjuster on the lever is spring loaded. It needs to be pulled out (along the length of the cable) 5-7mm before it can be turned. It shouldn't be tight and can be done with fingers.
