Had to bin my old cateyes this week. Anybody use the LED type front light are they any good, are they just to be seen or can you see anything with them.
Most decent front bike lights are now LED lights.
LED lights are now available up to car headlight levels of brightness. The power has to come from somewhere, so the bright ones use separate rechargeable battery packs and may not last very long. The cost for an LED light bright enough for unlit country roads can vary from about £8 up to £800.
As stated above most front bike lights are now LED lights, LED technology has made major advances in resent years, so you now get (in some cases) very bright lights for very low energy consumption leading to far longer battery life. If you are looking for a light to see by have a look at this review of lights.
