Front lights and bar bags

I occasionally use a bar bag on my road bike but have always avoided using during the winter due to difficulty setting up handlebar mounted lights without the bag either getting in the way or partly obscuring the light beam. It's an old, karrimor bag which doesn't have a mount built in. My bike is a Specialized Secteur and doesn't have any other obvious point to mount a front light other than on the bars.

Any good suggestions would be gratefully received.

I'd echo what Adrian said with the bar extender but if you're feeling creative it's amazing what some gaffa tape and cable ties can do.

At the very end of the dropped bar, depending om the bracket and how much room is taken away, Also on the front forks.
Would be best with 2 front lights with these suggestions so can be seen from the side.

A quick answer would be to lowere the bag.

St John Street do a "light fitting" that replaces a couple of the spacers on the stem

This will take the old fashioned wire Karrimor mounts, and places the bar bag low enough that a handle bar mounted light can be used

Alternatively use a setm mounting extension:

This is the opposite, keep the bar bag high, and fit the lights below it

Many thanks for the advice so far! Just spent 10 mins on the SJS cycles website and can see a number of options which would work.
Have now got some ideas for DIY projects which may work and will be fun trying. Thinking of a fork mount using a cutoff from a carbon fibre kayak paddle shaft glassed onto a mount which could sit on the side of one of my fork blades with zip ties to hold in place. Fork blades are fairly flat in profile so won't rotate round. Will share if I come up with something useful!

I use two of these with my ortleib bar bag and they work very well.

The first one fastens to the stem and the second to the cross piece of the first.

I then have 2 B&M lights on the second cross piece.

The lights sit under my bar bag.

Another option is a Twofish Lockblock mounted through a helmet vent hole on top of your head. Also nice being able to pinpoint aim your beam where required.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

...and where oncoming traffic really doesn't want it.

For an added trepanation bonus?

I suppose anything is possible, but I use cylindrical flashlights and in a crash, I'd be more concerned about the *end* of the tube pointing at me from the handlebars, then the *side* of the tube pushing its way past the plastic and styrofoam of my helmet. (But not worried about either.)

I use a fork-crown mounted dynamo lamp with my (quite large) barbag - everything fits nicely. As you have seen on the SJS site, there are brackets that fit in the same place but designed to take handlebar mounting lights.
