I,ve just fitted a pair of Avenir low rider front pannier racks on my Dawes Horizon, and I,ve encountered the following problems 1. I had to use the same hole as my mudguards as the spare hole on my forks doesn.t match up with the hole on the rack. 2 the racks once fitted slope down at the back about 1 inch off level. Can some of you learned folk tell me if this is normal or am I going to have problems?

I suspect the slope will cause you trouble. Had a quick google for Avenir low riders and they look to have some adjustment in their mounting. Can you not get them level at all?
As to the two fork holes - in theory you should be able to use one for the rack and the others for the mudguard. If you can't, perhaps you can source a set of longer bolts and mount the mudguard and rack on the same hole?
