Are there any engineers on here who know about fridges? My fridge, a Bosch, electronic frost free is now icing up in the freezer space every few days so that I have to scrape out the ice. I presume that the ice/ water is running inside the fridge instead of going to pot at the back to evaporate above the motor. Any ideas, or is it either an engineer, or the dump?

I'm not sure having a dump will help but it's worth a try I suppose...

I am not a freezer engineer, but I had a similar problem.

Try taking everything out, you should find a small hole at the back where the water runs out, make sure that is clear of stray frozen peas etc and it should be ok after that.

Otherwise check that the door seal is air tight.

Could be many things from ice around the fan, to the door seals to ice around the evapourater. As Beebo says it could also be a heater related problem blocking up the channel.

Definitely Beebo's hole is the first thing to check for. Take a good look at the rear wall of the inside of the fridge. Probably 2/3 of the way down, there'll be a groove V in the moulding (with the arms of the V going upwards at maybe 5 degrees almosto the side walls). At the back/bottom/centre, you'll find a hole, most likely blocked with accumulated fat & gunk. Poke a hole through with a matchstick or similar and wiggle it around a bit. Then you should be good for a year or so till it gunks up again.

Check all the above, but i had a Bosch fridge that did exectly the same....from almost new. Called the engineer out, he looked, he shrugged his shoulders (figuratively speaking) and offered no fix. Should have took it back, but it was an intermittent problem. I put up with it and kept stuff away from the back of the fridge.

Frost free can vary through range/model.
Cheaper units will have frost free freezer (fan chilled) and standard fridge - this is the one where the cooling process is an 'on/off' system. The rear wall of the fridge freezes, then defrosts with the water running down the drain point and through to an evaporator. This is why food freezes when placed at the rear of your fridge.
Higher end frost free units are fan cooled in both cabinets, meaning even temperatures and no 'on/off' freezing process.

Ice build up can be due to lots of issues (I should say at this point that I am no engineer!) such as thermostat fault causing unit to run too cold, although it *could* cause the fridge to cool too low too (unless it is a twin thermostat) or door seal.
Other causes for chilling issues can be caused by ambient temperatures (although this usually results in the fridge/freezer being too warm)

These frost free fridges are nothing but problems too much circuity on them just like cars these days every little thing some stupid light start flashing and even then you can't tell whats wrong with the thing which is what happened with our liebherr fridge freezer so many different engineers out yet the damm thing still was not fix properly in the end got the contact details of agsrefrigeration who service the london area who found and fix the fault they did inform me that a lot of these modern fridges don't last more than a few years funny my gran still have the same fridge freezer for twenty years and it's still going strong.

We had a similar issue, though from the other end of the spectrum (things defrosting sometimes, remaining frozen the other times) and it was simply that our freezer needed a new thermostat. The way (our) frost free freezer works is that as someone said above, the thermostat let's it defrost slightly so I've doesn't build up. I'm guessing if it went wrong for us letting it defrost too much, it could go wrong for you not cutting it off soon enough.
