Beaming with delight.. my 4 year old has thrown away the stabilisers. Not bad. I invested in a balance bike for him when he was 3 and today initially hitched up the stabilisers and noticed he wasn't using them anyway as he was riding around so took them off completely. Still has problems starting as the bike is a little overgeared for him cos he's young but he's getting there on that. I think I was 7 when I finally stopped keeling over and my 2 girls were 6 or 7 when they started... amazed at the effect balance bike has had. def a good buy,it has a brake too so he's controlled in stopping. He's asked to cycle to playgroup tomorrow so that'll be fun.. up a hill.. lets see what he's like out of the saddle then :-)

Well done to both little ones (and pat on the back for the no-doubt proud parents).

My sister was telling me about her daughter having a go on a trailer bike at the weekend. They are thinking of getting one to replace their seat on the back of the bike, so I suggested going to a trail centre where they could hire a bike with one to have test ride off road. The lady in checking that my niece was OK asked her to pedal, who just looked back blankly as she currently has a scoot along bike:biggrin:.

Tee hee. It's good the reaction you get from kids when you make assumptions about them ..

We used a tail-gator for Littlest-LC, and probably still will for a while until she gets her legs in .. bigger sister can do up to 15 miles at a time, but I doubt the youngest will be up to that for a while. The good thing with that is she can ride for a bit until she's worn out and then I can hook her to my bike and off we go. So we can gradually bring her up to distance.
