I spent a about a week weighing up the pros and cons of a decent steel hardtail versus a full susser, and eventually went for a spesh stumpjumper.
Haven't had the chance to take it out for a full day yet, but after too much wine last night I took it to the park to see what it was capable of.
I took about 20 shallow log steps about 3 feet long with a six inch drop at speed no problem.
Then, over-confident, I tried a much steeper stair thing, and my lower jaw was clacking around and I was scared. Today my back feels like I've been moving pianos around for the sake of it. The only thing I've learnt from all this is:
-being clipped in is just as bad as not being clipped in
-a full susser probably saved my life
