Architecture isn't all about cantilevers though; I remember going through a big 'shadow gap' phase in my building lifetime...thanks to John Pawson I guess.

Is there no-one from Nottingham who has seen the Art Gallery? Come back Joetwofour - all could be forgiven...

would that be shadow gap as in 'absence of fire protection to door lining' or shadow gap as in 'place where crap can collect'?
 
The one which gave headaches in the absence of skirting boards in a vain attempt to be trendy - so, yes, the crap catcher!

That squirty intumescent sealant was just putting its head above the parapet of style when it came to door frames...
