It’s not the Grey Mares Tail Road is it?
I don’t recognise it, I’m just going on the poetry clue!

I have no computer skills to do that. A bit sad I suppose, but that’s my state of knowledge.

:rolleyes:About time you learned. It's as easy as riding a bike. ^_^

Open this thread in your browser. Open Google maps in another tab. Find the approximate location of your horse-based solution in Google maps. Suppose that you think this location is at the red cross in the map below -

ntr1.jpg

Left click on the yellow figure at the bottom right (circled in red) and drag it with your mouse to the chosen location. When there, unclick (release your finger) and you'll be in streetview as below -

ntr2.jpg

If you're facing the wrong way, use the compass symbol at the bottom right to rotate the view. If you're not quite there, click on the arrow like the one on the road beside where the M9 is written and the view will jump forward a few metres. You can also use the on screen + - zoom buttons which can be useful to match the perspective of a photo that doesn't originate from Streetview, eg camera shots, stills from gopros etc.

Once you have streetview matching the photo in the challenge take a screenshot. In Firefox press ctrl shift s If you use a different browser the keys may be different - I think Microsoft Edge also has a 'snipping tool' but if you're not sure search in google for 'how to take a screenshot in Edge / Chrome / Safari or whatever.
When you click to take the screenshot a copy button may pop up - if so, click on that. If there isn't a pop up, just right click anywhere on the screen and select copy.
Go back to the cyclechat tab in your browser, right click in the reply box, select paste and your screenshot should appear there.

Reckon it's here, and indeed near the Grey Mare's Tail heading towards Moffat. Thanks to @slow scot for the clue.
In this picture you see the road sign, the bridge, the same curve in the river and hill profiles and the stony gash on the left hand hillside.

nb. I've done this road a couple of times, by bike and car, but never in this direction. It always looks great though.

It's a great descent, just watch out for the sheep!
Taken on my longest ride last year, 30 miles into a century.

Over to you.

It's just struck me that this road was on the Scottish part of LEL this year, which hardly anyone got to due to the cancellation. So I almost got to ride it another time.
