Nothing complex in the clues. I was just trying to communicate Car + ma + then.

I did ride this road, once, in 1985. It was my ride with cleats and toe-straps. I'd been led to believe they would double my pedalling efficiency, which by my reckoning should've turned me into Bernard Hinault...
