Think ours will be properly ready next week although we could harvest some now.

The variety is Timperley Early which I think is the earliest to crop and we've also forced it ;we have three good clumps now so can rotate the forcing.

Wow that's early for sure , i have placed an empty plant plot over overs just to give it some protection

I keep reading how all the UK allotment holders are starting to work on their plots. I took a trip down to my plot yesterday, the first time in a moth. I wanted to make sure the weight of the snow had not broken any of the greenhouse.

Everything was fine and dry. There were
no footprints and so nobody has been down there for weeks.

It will be a while before I plant anything. The ground is rock solid.

How are you getting on with your plot?

I have decided that this year the fence panels will get painted it's been at least 5 years since last done .

Been doing 30 minutes after work since Wednesday and then another 90 minutes this morning. Got about another 30 ft to do but it's getting there.

You must be at least 40 feet tall!

Got my planters and raised bed dug over with skme fresh topsoil and compost. Carrot and cucumber seeds in, garlic seedlings moved outdoors to a covered planters.

Onion and lettuce seeds to go in later thjs week.

Today mostly spent repairing a veg bed, planting out Shallots and Bunching Onions (both from seed),moving snowdrops and marking were new shoots of Lamprocanthus/Dicentra and Podophyllum.

Having just finished painting our fence panels.

Mum has 4 broken panels in her rear garden and our neighbour has replaced his panels with some plastic panels so got 4 of his 2 year old panels and arranged a local handyman to remove the old and fit the new to us panels today for mum he turns up at 7.45 and has them done by 9am so now I have more fence panels to paint

Front lawn has been trimmed and raked gently .
Hopefully getting 20kg of stable manure tomorrow to spread around the garden

In the middle of garden is a giant Ceanothus which over the years had attracted bees all summer. However, it got so large that it dominated much of the space we have. The environmentalist in me liked the bees, but wasn't keen on the lack of light for everything else.

After the very wet winter I noticed there weren't new leaves growing, apart from on a lower section where part of the bush/tree had snapped a few years previously. Investigation showed the main trunk had cracked, with a few new shoots growing near the crack.

So ... I've chopped back the branches, cut down the snapped trunk to let the new shoots grow and the garden has been opened up.

Hopefully what were muddy/mossy sections of lawn will now grow better as a result. And the new growth can keep attracting bees, albeit less of them.

Picked up 7 bags approx 5kg ea of horse stable manure yesterday.
So next job starting later today will to de weed the rose's in pots along with the other plants in pots then spread some manure
