I'm slightly concerned about some leaves/fronds looking a bit brown and 'chewed' on the ends. What might have caused this? I doubt it was frost as we've had a relatively ice and frost free winter. Could it be insects I wonder, or are those leaves just dying off?🤔

What are those little tan coloured things between the trowel and flask, on top of the soil? Are they slow feeding plant food, or slug repellents maybe?🤔

Looks like slow release fertiliser and those leaves are probably just old.

I'd get a small bag of grit and lay it on top of the compost, it will help hold the water in .
