Gardening - lawn mowing and weeding.

In the opinion of the good folks on here, is 5pm too late to be mowing the lawn, doing a bit of weeding and some planting. Please bear in mind that I have the neighbour from hell. She did decide to be nice for a couple of months but now she has her "you are being noisy by talking/walking etc head on.

We think that 5pm is a fine time to do the gardening but are just wondering what others think. Working on Saturday, busy on Sunday in case anyone was thinking that the weekend could be a consideration.

Not late at all, do it all the time. If she has a problem get a louder lawn mower. It'll down her out!

I don't hesitate at working up till 9:30pm on weekday evenings in the garden. Recently turned a load of trunks into firewood. Shredded a load of hedges, etc...

No, not at all. I think your neighbour is being unreasonable. But, obviously, one has to attempt to reason with them rather than simply dismissing them. No suggestions on that one I'm afraid, other than talking and generally being pleasant. How often do you mow the lawn anyway? Once a week?

I'll garden and mow gone 9pm in the height of summer, but then my circumstances are somewhat different.

Much better in the evenings than at weekends. Not like our retired near neighbour who still cuts his on a Sunday even though he's at home all week.

That's what we thought but we were told off for talking at the unholy hour of 4pm the other night. We were told off for loading our bikes into the car at 4.38pm on Monday and told off for playing ball with our little dog in our garden at 4pm last night.
Our friend Mark suggested test mowing a lot of mowers and then buying the loudest one we could find. A fine plan but the petrol mowers were out of our budget.

She's a right PITA and has made our lives a living hell for nearly a year, since we moved here. She whinges about everything all the time. There was a long thread about it on here before Christmas when we were living like Ann Frank but without the Nazis. She drove me to an overdose in January. Now I plug myself into my headphones and play guitar a lot, I can't hear her knocking for her imagined noises then.

When the garden is weeded and the grass a tad shorter we will. Any Norfolk-ites in the mood for a Barbie on a monday or a weds evening in the summertime? We could hold a regular one, weekly

Nah course not if you have a full time job, when do you do it

Self employed so out at 9.30am most days, quickly back for 20 mins at some point to let the hounds out, home by 4pm and then an hour walking our dogs and drinking tea before getting on with homey stuff.

9:30pm would be about the end of it.

5pm is fine. Though the later you do it, the longer it will last
