Garlic bread – it’s the future, I’ve tasted it.

Yes, sorry, it's seared on my mind even though it must have been at least 7 years ago. I won't even mention his hideous bathing shorts… I never went there again after that!

BTW, this lump of stainless steel is fun to use on the raw material...

Indeed. This chap consumed vast amounts of garlic, claiming it to be more effective than anaesthetic.

I had a colleague like that thirty years ago. Your colleague, I think, made the same mistakes as my colleague Raymond.

Mistake number one - mistaking cloves of garlic with oil of cloves, a known analgesic and home remedy for dental pain.

Mistake number two - confusing heads of garlic with cloves of garlic - Raymond had eaten two heads of garlic and not two cloves as advised by someone else who had made mistake number one.

Raymond could be detected thirty paces away and his pathways through a vast warehouse could be followed even when wearing a gas mask.

Love it and it goes in most things I cook. I'm also very fond of Ramsons or Wild Garlic...

It's the long fresh leaves you steam and eat and were I believe introduced by the Normans. The white flowers are a very common sight in spring through to early summer. This plant is in among some Mercury with the more oval leaves, which you don't want to pick to eat...

Another one that has a garlic tasting leaf is Jack by the Hedge...or Garlic Mustard...no relation but very nice again when the leaves are young.

What about smoked garlic anyone?
