As the weather is really nice today, I went for a little ride with my new Garmin 200 and I must say it worked very well until I lost the GPS reception for about 3 miles. At the time, I was riding alongside a tall stone wall and wonder if that caused the loss. On the other hand, I also had Mapmyride switched on ( as a back up ) and that worked ok throughout.
So I would like to know if anyone with the same Garmin model has experienced loss of GPS as well sometimes?

I've done over 100 rides with my Garmin Edge 200 and never had a single problem. I always make sure to turn it on an leave it without pressing any buttons for about a minute or two before I start my ride so that it connects fully to the satellites. Sometimes when I press the 'ride' button too soon it just won't find a signal so always make sure to leave it a minute and after that it never loses signal.

Haven't been aware of losing signal on a ride but on the odd occasion I have carried it when walking in my pocket it definitely loses signal, especially under trees.......not really what it's for I suppose.

I don't get a signal with mine indoors. Which is expected. But the instructions do say that the unit needs to be able to see the sky.

Odd one that. The wall wasnt marking the perimeter of an RAF base or something? The millitary can block it .

I will keep an eye on it and if it happens again, I might send it back to Amazon.

My 200 has worked from day 1 - probably about 4,000 miles - even heavy tree cover where the old etrex lost it. I've also used the 200 to capture some routes that I've driven in the car ... with it sat on the front seat .. no problem.

The point about letting it fully capture the satellites before you start it up is important.

I occasionally lose GPS with my 800 under heavy tree cover but don't recall it dropping anywhere else.

Does it pause when you lose GPS?

I've assumed that's what it is as wasn't going slow enough to activate the auto-pause function.

When it lost GPS, it just restarted as a new ride.

Try clearing all the rides and then ride the same route. I had a glitch once and clearing the old rides out sorted the problem.
Another tip as above. Turn it on and leave alone for a couple of minutes (whilst you do pre flight checks)
