I received my Garmin 310XT earlier this week. I also ordered a quick release kit so I could fit it to my bike. And for good measure I picked up a cheap cadence ANT+ sensor from Decathlon for £17.00. Very happy so far, everything works as it should.

I got a 310xt because I run as well and I read good reviews.

I'd like to know how accurate you think it is moment by moment. My fr305 can be quite erratic in cover, showing, a quite varying running pace. Nice to know if the 310 is better.

the only decent test so far was running. A little erratic at times but I think it preformed well. I'm very happy with it and the quick release dock.

Can I dig this up and asking how your getting on with it?

I'm thinking about selling my forerunner 210 and changing to this as I'd like to be able to use it properly on the bike as well as running

I'm a bit of a newb so I'm not sure if I can give you the feedback you're after. However, I'm completely happy with all the above kit. Some people say the quick release makes the watch strap bulky but it doesn't bother me. It sits very secure on either my wrist or the dock on the bike.

As far as I can see it provides all the data that I could want but I've never used any of the specific cycling computers to compare it. The cadence senor is detected quickly and without fuss. The only thing I would change is the colour, it would be nice if it matched my bike. And I believe it's compatible with a power meter.

Thanks - have ordered one to give it a whirl. Like you I want something I ca use for running too.

The only thing that puts me off is the wireless data transfer via the ant+ stick. Wish they could of just used USB for it

I'll admit that can be a little annoying but I think that was because I interrupted it once. Before that it worked as soon as I took my pc out of standby. I'm sure there is a way to make it smooth again but I've not looked into it much. I guess it's so you can use it for triathlons (swimming).

I hope it works out for you.

I briefly used a Garmin 405CX with a speed/cadence sensor on my bike and it performed excellently. I now run an edge 510 for my bike and a Forerunner 210 for running.

I could see very little difference between the data from the 405 and my edge 510 except that the 510 has a proper altimeter in and doesn't rely on gps to calculate altitude. I would expect the 305 and 310 to work just as well as the 405 in bike mode.

I am interested to hear how the decathlon ant+ speed/cadence sensor performs as I could do with a second unit for my spare bike.

I will actually be using a decathlon Cadence / Speed sensor for a while as I have a Btwin Count 14 computer and until I buy the proper garmin cadence sensor I will try and get it paired with the btwin one.

The only reason I have gone down the 310XT route is to save some money. Ideally id have my forerunner 210 and a edge 500 but cant afford them both, so the idea is that the 310XT will perform as both my bike computer and running watch.

I'd also be interested to see if the Garmin cadence sensor is any better then the BTwin sensor. I'm happy with the BTwin sensor but I don't know any different.

What I like about the quick release kit is you get two docks so you can have two bikes ready to go.
