Hi there. As you know I recently got a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt. I've been playing about an creating routes on Ride with GPS. However I'm stuck at this:

The pictures below are a test route I was doing to see how I edit a route. How do I delete the red route at the top - the spur that ends nowhere? I've deleted the white control points but it doesn't allow me to delete the blue control point(s) - does that mean something? Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah this is one of the frustrations I have with RWGPS, the software can be a bit clunky at times. What I would do first of all is click on the red spurred line and then drag it down to meet the main route. This normally works, but be careful you don't affect the rest of your route, because RWGPS can sometimes then change earlier parts of the route just to be awkward.

The blue dot normally denotes the current end point of your plotting, if it's in the middle of a line then the route is doubling back on itself, so be careful of that.

I'll be honest - RWGPS software on computer is terrible. If I make a mistake I'll just delete the whole route and start again. But it is free (for now) so I'll live with that!

Insert a control point either side of where the spur splits off the route you want then click anywhere on the spur and drag it back onto the route.

Cycle travel is a good website and it does come up with some excellent routes, for self planning routes though I find it very limiting it what it can do. As frustrating as some of RWGPS quirks are, they do have a comprehensive suite of route editing tools and I've yet to find another planning website that will match it.

At the end of the day it's horses for courses, there are a number of excellent route planning tools out there and it's a matter of finding one that works for the kind of planning you want to do. I actually use a mix of cycle.travel, RWGPS and Komoot, dependant on what I'm looking for.

RWGPS is easy on a computer. To delete part of the route. Go to the bottom of the screen. Highligh part of the altitude scale and you will see part of the route changes colour. Then use the delete box to delete that part of the route.

RWGPS can be frustrating so I'm in the habit of just clicking the Undo arrow when it goes wrong.
