I've noticed recently (last 6 months) that the battery on my Garmin 520 drains much quicker than usual. I can't even do a 4 hour ride without it depleting.

I have backlight turned all the way down and connect to ant sensors plus Bluetooth to phone.

It used to easily last 7 hours while running navigation. Wouldn't last 2 hours with navigation running now.
Anybody else noticed something similar and have advice?

For reference, running it when on indoor trainer it will last well over 10 hours, so I suspect GPS being the culprit

I have the same on mine, I get a low battery warning after about 3 hours. Backlight is set to off until I get a turn warning where it is at 10%. Strangely after a low battery warning I can keep going for a couple more hours without it turning off. Have you set the recording duration to be ‘smart’ and turned off GLONASS in the GPS setting?

Thanks for the replies. Mine does shortly after low battery warning, and yes I have smart GPS enabled.

Will try changing the battery. I wish it was as easy as the old mobile phones were.
