Well I know my Garmin is knocking on a bit but it's always worked and still does out on the road. Yesterday I plugged it into it's usual USB port with the usual USB cable connector. The Unit "powered up" as usual but the computer didn't recognise it at all. Did various simple things like reboot, disconnect and try again (and again) but to no avail. Looked to see if I could find a driver for it (normally my machine just downloads such if something gets plugged in) but it wasn't obvious at first search or two.

SO HELP PLEASE

It's a Garmin Oregon 400t and I'm on Windows 7

Thanks in advance

Hmmph - differing symptoms in detail @sight-pin

However I downloaded the communicator plug in and allowed it to run on Chrome.

Seems to work now. Well it did for a wee while

How strange it just fell over like that but maybe, just maybe, it's all OK again now It's not

Edited to reflect reality

I don't know why Garmin just doesn't leave well alone, If they carry on with all these updates, i'll need to be an IT expert to just to connect the thing.

Is it not just a mini usb connection in the Garmin ? Sure it is in my Edge 800. Anyway luckily for me one of my digital cameras had the same connection so I just use that cable now.

It is - I did some Googling and realised it's not a Garmin special. Mini B USB to be precise. I've just now ordered a cable but I may wander up town later and see if I can pick one up which the Royal Mail can't then delay

My Samsung mobile has the same lead if you have one of those knocking about? Come to think of it, so is my Canon camera. Hope you find a lead save sending off for one.
