I've just created a course on Garmin Connect, went to save it & it told be to log in (even though I was already logged in) so I did & then I had to redo the course. On completing the course a second time it did the same thing. Anyone else having this problem?

yes, yesterday it did the same thing on me. didn't try a 2nd time though...

Garmin has issues at the moment.

Use RWGPS instead until they get the bugs sorted.

When you do log into garmnin you get 4 messages showing but nothing in there as well.

I can save really short courses but anything long (like the century ride I'm trying to save) just goes to login screen

*edit* Yep I have the 4 messages with nothing there also

Was doing this two weeks ago, I created the same 55 mile course 3 times before giving up.

I usually find when you see the 4 messages icon appear, that's when you've been silently logged off so you may as well give up doing anything more with your course.

I gave up on GC a long time ago although i still have the account.

RWGPS logs all your data and even lets you store pics for free. The route mapping is way better than GC and you can easily save and edit routes.

The "export" is a paid item, but it still lets you export anyway.

The older 205/305 type garmins need Garmin TC that should have come with the unit, the Newer Edge 200, touring etc just need to be connected and the route drag n dropped into the file.

I think even Strava now lets you plan routes.

Sounds like I will have to try a new route planner & hope I can drag & drop into my Edge 200

The new 200 is drag and drop.

Create your route on RWGPS and save it (call it a name)

view your route.

On the top right hand side select Export

Choose the type of course, TCX or GPX (i used TCX on my 205)

The TCX file will auto download, normaly to your downloads folder.

I copy and paste this (you don't have to) to a TCX folder just for backup

With your edge plugged in via the usb go to you downloads folder, find the file and copy it as normal

Go to your computer, find garmin and open it, open the "new files" folder and paste in the file

When you turn on the garmin it will convert it into a course.

Just to add, RWGPS premium allows direct write to the unit.

Free accounts just need to do it as above manually.

205/305 is the same, but you "import" the downloaded file to Garmin TC 1st
