I have a Garmin Edge Touring and the two biggest rides I have done on it have both cut out at about sixty miles. Anyone know any fixes?

My 800 use to regularly cut out after about 20 mins.
Turns out it was the memory that was full. Cleared it and a it hasn't happened since.

Try a full reset? Does the manual or google give any insight. If it's under warranty, take it back if it can't be resolved

Yeah. Swap it for an iPhone with rwgps and USB charger. Best switch I made with riding. Never got in with my garmin. Now have reliable gps and far far far superior mapping and screen.

...but it came down in price by £10 a day until it was stupid to ignore at £50!! Will try a full reset, just a bummer that I won't be able to tell if it has worked until more than 3 hours of riding!!

Not likely. Spotted it on Gumtree at £110 (second hand but unopened)
If you have no luck with the reset/ deleting history try calling Garmin UK, you never know they might help out anyway. They've helped me in the past with devices out of warranty. Good Luck :-)

Throw it in the nearest pond / river. It won't fix the problem, but I speak from experience when I say, it doesn't half make you feel better about the reporting of the ride being screwed.

How many hours was that?

Like yours, my Edge Touring is fairly new.

Seems to me battery life has improved a bit after a few charging cycles.

I'll echo Pale Rider's comment. I've had my 705 for some time, but I hadn't used it much in the last couple of years as I used a 200 on the commute. It didn't hold charge when I started re-using it 6 months ago. I then used it a few times and kept fully charging it, and it's been holding charge fine since.

My Edge Touring did that when it was new - now seems to have settled down and works fine - check you have the latest firmware version (via the Garmin website updates thing) and also try a factory reset. Also lower the display backlight.

IF it's the battery life - which will depend on how long you ride for (and how fast!) then a supplementary power pack in a bar bag or tri-bag on the top tube will give you longer life (Something like an Anker power unit - not much money from Amazon . . .and will also recharge a phone)
