Why does Garmin Express still show my account details even though i have signed out of Garmin Connect?
I know Garmin Express updates devices and maps etc but it would be a lot simpler if you could do just do it all on Garmin Connect.

Same here. Express used to be used for software updates, but they now come directly from Garmin Connect via Bluetooth, so I think Garmin Express is redundant.

Garmin Connect for the routine syncing of data, firmware updates etc.

Garmin Express still required for map updates.

I think from recollection it is required to set up the initial WiFi connection too, or maybe you can just do that from the device now?

Yes it can now be done on the device itself and also via Garmin Connect. The latter is easier to enter the wifi password. It’s a faff, but doable if necessary, on the device.

I use express to update the ride every tile app.

Because Express is not Connect. You have a Garmin Account and you use that to log into separate services in the Garmin eco system. For instance you can use the same account to log into the Garmin Forums or the TACX indoor trainer software. If it logged me out of all services when logging out of one it’d be a right pain. It’d be like logging out of Google Photos and finding out I was logged out of Gmail as well etc.

Log out of Garmin Express or delete the account details stored in Express if you no longer wish to use it.
