Hello!

I am looking to buy an GPS device for a cycling trip in Denmark, I came up to the Garmin Edge Touring, but I tried the device and I found it really slow, and the touchscreen was just not really responding.

I looked around a bit more and found the Garmin GPSMAP series, only I do not understand the complete idea of these maps you need to buy and the basic map that is already installed.

Is the basic map detailed enough to relie on it and found nice cycling pads around Denmark or anywhere in Europe?

Try Talky Toaster too see if they have an Open source (free) map of Denmark. Ive no experience of GPSMAP series but I've found basic garmin maps to be fine for a pre plotted route when you dont stray but I think youd need a more detailed map if you did.

I've recently purchased a garmin 810 and the navigation is good, although you have to either buy maps from garmin or download them from somewhere. I looked at the garmin touring but it doesn't have all the functions like HRM/CAD. If you get the maps it will show you street by street navigation. Base maps are poor. The touchscreen is great even in poor weather.

Well I already bought the Garmin GPSMAP 62S because of the posibilities where the Edge is restricted to cycling. They say you have to buy the maps but I saw while googling around a lot of websites where you can get them for free.

Good, that's what I did and the maps are really good.sometimes the town names/ area's are not up to date but that depends on where u get the maps. I can recommend one but I' m not sure if your allowed to post that on here?
