It's come a bit regular for me to glance at the display monitor throughout the day to see how much gas and electric we have used so far during the day.

This morning at 8.09 am it was reading £1.90 including the standing charge . So a 2 minute use of microwave and a couple of small kettle boils and we are at £2.07 .

Solar panels haven't kicked in yet

I only have the Octopus app to look at, which I do quite frequently in the winter. It's showing around £8.40 most days for electric, and £7 for gas. That includes 53p and 32p per day standing charge for electric and gas respectively.

I'm always trying to save energy but it is impossible in my house when other people aren't interested!

Smart meter reading @ 07:30 (when night time leccy ends) is usually about 60p.
By bedtime if it's over £3 I come out in spots, usually £2:00/£2:50 !!

Months Nov/Dec figures £62
Dumb meter for gas £82
Including standing charges

I use the excellent ' octopus Watch " App. It shows daily usage and cost, peak / offpeak usage, standing charge / min / max / average temperatures on a daily basis. You can also generate reports with customisable dates which is really useful.
Here are a couple of screen shots, in the app you can drill down deeper. The 27th December box shows a credit as we generated more than we used as we were away.

At this time of year, including c£90 EV charging (at flat 22p/kwh rate) it's +/- £250 pcm. And about a billionty-six litres of heating oil...

We're all electric, on Economy 7, averaging about 70kWh per day this time of year, that's @ £8.60 a day, some of the colder day nearer £10. Didn't know about the Octopus app, will have a look at that 👍

Edit... Blast, that was a waste of £1.99, apparently the Octopus Watch app does not support Economy 7
