Gas Pumps

Do they work? how well and are they worth it for communting? and finally which ones ( as there are hundreds) would you get / do you own?

been looking around for a while now and thinking if be a faster way home but so many to choose from its bewildering!

CO2 canisters you mean? Not very environmentally friendly since you only get one shot per canister, but the main problem is that if the refill fails for whatever reason that's the end of it. No second chances, and so you'll want to carry a back-up hand pump. And you're carrying a back-up hand pump you may as well dispense with the CO2 canisters.

If you're racing they make sense, but not in the real world.

And they WILL fail in time. The freezing Co2 eventually cracks the seal in the pump and all the gas will end up escaping into the air.
