Gator Hardshell Tyres

Had a blowout today on my Vittoria Diamente Pros - only covered 200 miles so far since new. I will take some of the blame as we had to cut down a roughish track to get home due to a major mechanical failure on my mates bike.

However, does anyone have any feedback yet on the new Conti Gator Hardshells?

Hardshells?? not seen them, I have been using the Duraskin ones for about the last 2,000 miles without problems, but I like the sound of the Hardshells, tougher but only 10g heavier. This maybe my next set of tyres, when I finally wear out the current ones...

I'd not heard of them either until I was reading C+ last night and noticed them in the testing-gear section - rather prophetic considering my blow out this morning!!

I was just looking at them. They seem too be very pricey for a tyre that will not stop punctures

Why not get a pair of Rubino Pro's? They are tougher, still lightweight and cheaper.

I'm running one up front at the moment after a rock slashed through my vittoria pro, first impressions are very slippery when putting the power down and cornering compared to the pros, conti ultra & gators, michelin, schwalbe, bontragers. Kind of running out of tyres to try
