if you don't mind me asking, does Channel4 pay for (or contribute towards) the operations on this programme?

That's why Gaz appeared on it. The NHS basically washed their hands of him and he couldn't afford to pay for the surgery himself. He's mentioned it a few times over the past couple of years.

What Colin said. Gaz had tried via the NHS and was refused due to budget cuts, despite him doing the hard work himself, and it was a 'worthy' operation to carry out. His option was the telly programme, and as said, the TV 'production company' pay for the operation. Channel 4 would then pay the 'production' company for the 'commissioned series'.

Watched it a couple of nights ago.
Its lovely to see someone so comfortable with having a new body, but the real shock was seeing what was hidden underneath his shirt! OMG!
Gaz - you come across really well on TV - confident but modest, high achieving, but not arrogant, extraordinary, but matter-of-fact. And on your blog you seem to be a man with always a good word to say about someone, always seeing the positive side (with maybe one exception...) Can't think of a bad word to say about you.

Except Man U fan, obviously!
