Gear cable care

Whenever I finish a ride I drop the chain onto the small chainring and halfway down the cassette. I do this to take the tension out of the gear cables. I don't know if it does prevent cable stretch or not, just seems logical.

Anyone else do this or is it just me being a bit an*l?

I leave the bike in whatever gear it was in when I fell off it!

I have taken the situation one step further and only ride the bike round in that one gear I also park it in, thus obviating the need for the cable ever to move.
I can reach a top speed on the flat of approximately 12.2739854567398475687656664123456785678 mph.
