Gears jumpng all over the place!!!

Just recently started cycling and took the plunge and bought a new road bike last week, been out a couple of times, but my gears seem to jump all over the place, was just wondering is it common with new bikes, or is there something I can change.

The indexing has not been set correctly. There are loads of videos on Youtube that will show you how to do it (dead simple) but as it's a new bike I would take it back and get the shop to sort it.

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking about riding down to shop where I bought it tommorow, Have looked on you tube, seems a bit advanced for my newbie brain, think I'll probably do more damage, than good.

don;'t want ypur first free service too soon, want to wait for the cables to stretch etc


so make it clear you just want them to set them up right as they should have been on day one, save your service up
