I've started a new forum for g33ks:

http://geekschat.net/

Please feel free to register, chat, ask questions and post answers, and place links to it all over the internet at every opportunity you get to make it as big and busy as CycleChat ...

Or you could always just pop your head around the door for a quick glance and maybe post a "Hello" in the Coffee Shop ...

Cheers,
Shaun

I signed up. Filled only the basic details in but it got a photo of me from somewhere (Facebook?)

I did not give my real name as my nickname and rather hoped my email address would remain private.

Can you turn that feature off?

It's spooky and a bit invasive.

Oh, apparently it's "Gravatar".

I didn't know I had one of those.

That'll have to go

I haven't set a Gravatar up yet but I'm thinking of it. It would be handy where I wanted to be identified.

I'd be happy to be recognised on any cycling site I went on, but I wouldn't on sites like CollectingFluffyToyKittens.com! ;)

I can't see how you could accidentally end up with a Gravatar unless somebody else signed you up for it! Ah - I just checked - you might have got it by signing up for Wordpress.com.

Apparently you can't actually close your account, but you can delete your pictures and hide your profile which will achieve the same result.

It's quite a good feature ... those little red alerts can be quite addictive ...

I believe IPS are looking at introducing a "like" for posts in the next version of IP.Board.

Cheers,
Shaun
