Evening all,
Looking at getting a new bike and alway's loved the Equlibrium range.
Having a look online and stumbled across the Equlibrium Decade, 725 steel, tiagra, front dynamo, seem's to fit the bill to me.

Does anyone ride a Equlibrium ? Or
Are there any other bikes like this that is should look into ?

Thanks Jamie.

I ride a 725 equilibrium, lovely and smooth

What's your budget? There are other v nice steel bikes out there, which can be built to order depending on funds

This is mine by the way with newish handbuilts wheels. Other than the frame and fork, nothing is standard on the bike

I've done 4,000 miles on my Eq10 so far this year and loved every minute. It's good for commuting, century rides, quick club darts, the lot. Not as soft and comfy as something more sportive orientated like a Synapse, but taut and really well balanced. Feels solid without being in the least sluggish.
Judging by the pics on Tweeks I'm not a big fan of the 2016 colour schemes. I think someone from Rapha was involved in the 2015 designs and they look really classy and stand out from the crowd. The 2016 colourschemes seem a bit more workaday.
You could probably save yourself a fair wedge by picking up a 2015 model in a sale if you shop around and can find something in your size. Easy enough to add mudguards and rack and still be a couple of hundred up on buying one of the new Decade models.

About time Genesis updated their website actually, it's still showing all the lovely yellows and metallic blues of 2015 models on there. Bit weird given the online shops hav been picturing and flogging their 2016 models for weeks.

I ride a 2014 Equilibrium 20, lovely bike. Great all rounder, much liked by the guys in my cycling club.

I agree with EasyPeez above, try and find a 2015 model with disc brakes if possible, will save a good 20% on the original price. http://www.highlandbikes.com/m1b230.../RS_GB/18369?gclid=CK3SzrTM6MgCFRITGwodZo4BuQ (All sizes in stock ).

I also wonder why the Genesis website still shows the 2015 models while you can buy 2016 range elsewhere online.

Cheers

I ride the Disc 10 that @San Marco links to - the brakes are great, easy to adjust and far better than the Promax Discs on my mates Cannondale and the BB Discs on my Boardman. And yeah, the classic looks and metallic blue paint job attract lots of admiring comments.
The 10 is made with cheaper, own-brand steel. Not sure how that compares ride-wise to the Reynolds 725, would be interested to find out. Weight-wise the difference is undetectable (have hefted a 10 and 20 in each hand in the shop and couldn't tell them apart) but if you want Reynolds steel like on the Decade you'd need to be looking at the 20 models or above.

If I had £1,300 to blow on a steel bike I'd also be looking at possible Condor builds.

+1 for @vickster 's suggestion of Cycle Heaven. They stock Condor and Genesis, among others, and will be happy to let you take a test ride. I was in their fantastic new building on Hospital Fields Road this week - it's worth a visit for the cafe alone! Give it a couple of weeks though if I were you - they are just moving in this week and won't have all their stock out for a short while yet.
Happy shopping

I built one from a used frame and really like it, very comfortable. Mine is the commuter / wet weather bike, now fitted with mudguards.

My (short) build thread is here

I've swapped a few bikes around as my commuter, didn't particularly get on with disc brakes as found the adjustment and close clearances needed for decent braking a pain for a daily commute bike and would much rather have rim brakes. I'd consider a hydraulic equilibrium build once the prices drop though.

The Equilibrium is a solid, workhorse commuter for me. The frames are good value and they handle well. Although there is nothing really wrong with my current frame (a few rust spots), I'm going to get an Equilibrium 725 disc frameset (2015) and set it it up with TRP Spyre's or the new Juin Tech R1. Not sure of the wheels yet, maybe Kinesis and a 1x10 set-up (48 chainring and 12 to 25 cassette)
