Getting a new car key cut/made.....a question.

Some how somewhere I have mislaid my spare key.
Its a 65 plate Astra.
On FB local section a local guy (gives his home phone number) is advertising.
I was about to contact him when the thought came to me..........
What is to stop him making a 2nd key for himself ??
Any thoughts ??

Nothing stopping him, but it wouldn't do his business any good. Very unlikely to happen. It's not like a 65 plate Astra is a Ferrari. And that said, no point as he's probably got the tech to take a car if it's keyless ignition anyway.

It'll probably be around £300 cut and programmed at the dealer, but itll work.

Independent vendors will do compatible keys for less but they can be less reliable and easier to code-grab.

Id not sure id want anyone local who isnt either a dealer or a reputable bricks and mortar business having access to my car keys or my vehicles OBD port - its always nice to find ones vehicles in the morning in the same place they left it the might before.

TBF it is 'only' a 2nd key and just sleeps in the house unless needed.
